Mayor Jacobs Distributes Toys Collected During Holiday Heroes Campaign

Orange County, Fla. – Mayor Teresa Jacobs recently helped families from the Wraparound Orange program “shop” for toys when she visited the campus of Orange County’s Great Oaks Village. Wraparound Orange is a collaboration of community agencies that help families and their children who struggle with behavioral, emotional, and or mental health problems.

More than a dozen families were on hand to select gifts for their boys and girls. Whether the toy was a special doll, truck or board game; all were generously donated by Orange County citizens and employees who donated through Mayor Jacob’s 2013 Holiday Heroes Toy Drive.

“I am so grateful to the many people who cared so deeply about making the holidays a special time for our area’s children,” said Mayor Jacobs. “For many families, these may be the only gifts the children receive. By the smiles on so many faces, I could see that the contributions really made a difference in their lives.”

Mayor Jacobs launched her 2013 Holiday Heroes Toy Drive in November. This is the third year Mayor Jacobs and her team has facilitated the toy drive. The toy drive encourages the community to bring new, unwrapped toys to Orange County administrative centers and participating drop off locations. Orange County employees and citizens exceeded expectations for the 2013 Holiday Heroes Toy Drive, collecting 3,850 toy donations this year.

Donated toys benefit infants, children, and teens through Orange County’s Neighborhood Centers for Families, the Community Food and Outreach Center, Wraparound Orange, and the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation in Orlando. For more information, visit
