Mayor Jacobs Names New Orange County Convention Center Executive Director

Orange County, FL – Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs is pleased to announce the appointment of Kathleen Canning to the position of executive director of the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC). Canning currently serves as general manager and will continue to direct and supervise all aspects of finance, marketing and operations of the facility.

“Ms. Canning is an exceptional leader who is well-respected, not only within Central Florida, but throughout the hospitality industry,” said Mayor Jacobs. “Her knowledge and experience are invaluable as we continue to be the number one convention* and meeting facility in the United States.”

Canning joined the OCCC in 1984 and over the past 28 years, has provided vital assistance to sales, planning and development for the center’s expansion projects. As general manager, Canning was responsible for the day-to-day management of the second largest convention facility in America, directing the activities of operations, event services, information services and business divisions and responding to outside businesses and tourism organizations.

“I am honored to be selected as the new executive director of this vital economic engine for our community,” said Canning. “It is my goal to meet our promise to increase its economic impact, provide unparalleled guest service and exceed client expectations here at the ‘Center of Hospitality’.” Mayor Jacobs will present Canning’s appointment to the Board of County Commissioners on December 18th.
