Orange County Offers First Sustainability 101 Class

Orange County, FL – Learn what Orange County is doing to assist you in making your community a healthier and prosperous place for you, your children, and your children’s children to live, work, and play. Attend the Sustainability 101 workshop, Tuesday, September 24, 2013, 5:30pm – 8:30pm. The workshop will be held at the Orange County Landfill, 5901 Young Pine Road, Orlando, and includes a not-to-be-missed tour of the landfill. The tour is followed by a workshop which covers the basic concepts of sustainability, with a special focus on how these concepts are being applied to address Orange County’s long-term water, energy and waste management needs. Sustainability 101 will introduce participants to how Orange County is working toward a community characterized by a diverse, dynamic, resilient economy and a built environment that is in harmony with the natural environment. The workshop will discuss community involvement and long-term decision making.

Sustainability 101 is part of the Orange County Citizen Planner Academy series, designed to help make our community be a more prosperous, livable, and healthy place now and in the future. The series of classes educates the public about the planning and land development process in our community. Your participation in Sustainability 101 and the Citizen Planner Academy can empower you to make a difference and can even help to shape decision about development, neighborhoods and public projects in a manner that considers long-term impacts, as well as the needs of current residents and visitors.
