Orange County to Honor Local Heroes this Memorial Day

Orange County, FL – Mayor Teresa Jacobs and the Orange County Veterans Advisory Board invite you to honor the memory of local heroes who sacrificed their lives while serving their country at the 2013 Orange County War Memorial Rededication Ceremony on Memorial Day. The ceremony will pay tribute to Specialist Marcos A. Cintron of Orlando, FL who died while supporting Operation New Dawn.

About Specialist Marcos A. Cintron, U.S. Army:
Specialist Cintron was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division based in Fort Riley, Kansas. A father of two girls, ages 11 and 13, Specialist Cintron is remembered by them as “the best dad” who took them surfing and horseback riding. Specialist Cintron grew up in Puerto Rico and visited his family there while on leave several months before he died. He joined the Army in 2010 and spent eight months in Iraq. He died in a Boston hospital after suffering wounds in a June 6, 2011 attack in Baghdad. Five other soldiers also died as a result of the attack. Specialist Cintron’s family says he was proud to serve his country and always wanted to be a soldier. Specialist Cintron was 32 years-old.
