COVID-19 Vaccines Now Available for Children Ages 6 Months to 4 Years

Public Health & Safety

COVID-19 vaccines for our youngest Orange County residents are now available for children ages 6 months to 4 years. On June 17, 2022, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized the emergency use of Moderna and Pfizer vaccines for young children, and they were also approved by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for such use.

According to Vaccines.gov, the children’s vaccines are currently being shipped nationwide. Free vaccines are available at many retail pharmacies through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. You should call your pediatrician’s office or your local pharmacy to check if the vaccine is available.

COVID-19 and its variants continue to spread in Central Florida. As of June 20, 2022, the CDC currently has the Orange County community spread level listed as high and is encouraging residents to wear masks indoors in public settings and to get tested if you are experiencing any symptoms.

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to talk to their doctors about the vaccines, therapeutics and other treatments for COVID-19.
