Mayor’s Letter

Greetings!

September is here, and it is filled with exciting activities and events taking place in our beautiful region. Our recent brush with Hurricane Idalia last week is also an important reminder that we are nearing the peak of hurricane season. I encourage everyone to restock your emergency supply kits and review our safety and preparedness information provided by Orange County’s Office of Emergency Management.

Football fans can rejoice with college football officially underway. Our very own UCF Knights began their inaugural season as members of the BIG 12 Conference with a victory just last week. Charge on!

This is the time of year when the flavors of our community are on full display during Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining. Experience the best of Orange County’s culinary scene with special fixed-price menus at some of the most popular restaurants in the area.

We’re also celebrating the start of Hispanic Heritage Month. Join us as we honor the diverse traditions, art and flavors that make our community such a vibrant place to live. This year, the Center for Health and Wellbeing in Winter Park will host our annual art exhibition, featuring local artists displaying their work. Additionally, a second art exhibition will be showcased inside the Orange County Administration Building lobby.

This is also the time to remember and honor the innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the heroes who showed incredible bravery. As a nation, we will never forget that terrible day. Let us pay tribute to their memory.

I wish everyone the very best.

Sincerely,

Jerry L. Demings
