Solid Waste Professionals Earn Top Standings in Annual Heavy Equipment Competition
When the team from Orange County Utilities recently competed in a heavy equipment competition, they had a goal of doing their best. When the results were calculated, they scored some of the top spots in Florida.
Sponsored by the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), Florida chapter, the Road-E-O competition was held in Lakeland. Instead of horses and cattle like a traditional rodeo, it featured trucks navigating obstacles that showcases the expertise of the dedicated operators.

Similar events occur in other states to boost morale and build the skills of hardworking sold waste pros.
Among the competitors this year were three talented professionals who displayed their skills from the Orange County Utilities Solid Waste Management Division.
Top honors went to Joey Delgado who placed first statewide in the track dozer category. He also garnered the Top Gun title, which is awarded for scoring the highest of all competitors in the heavy equipment segment of the competition.

Christopher Logan also finished strong, placing second in the front-end loader category. And in the truck segment, tractor trailer driver Feguens Clervil ranked fifth in the state.
Congratulations to the team and good luck to Joey in the fall competition!
