Pine Hills on the Move: New LYNX Transfer Center Drives Community Growth
Getting around Orange County just got easier for Pine Hills residents.
The community’s new LYNX bus transfer station is now open, providing faster, more efficient access to jobs and services across the region. But the new hub represents more than transportation — it stands as a symbol of progress for the community.
Tamara Johnson, Executive Director of Orange County’s Pine Hills Neighborhood Improvement District, said the new bus center will boost local businesses and lay the groundwork for future economic development.
“This is going to help grow our community into what we want to see,” Johnson said. “One of the main goals of the Pine Hills Neighborhood Improvement District is economic development and economic growth, and this is the center of it. The best way to get money flowing into a community is to bring people in. And this transfer station will bring thousands of people weekly into Pine Hills — many who have never come through here before. This is a gamechanger for this community.”
Johnson joined Mayor Jerry L. Demings, U.S. Congressman Maxwell Frost, Orange County Clerk of Court Tiffany Moore Russell, District 2 Commissioner Christine Moore, District 6 Commissioner Michael Scott, and LYNX Chief Executive Officer Tiffany Homler Hawkins for the ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by LYNX on August 28.

The $18 million project was completed with support from multiple partners, including a $1.03 million funding contribution from Orange County. In recent years, the County has invested more than $67 million in Pine Hills through transportation improvements, beautification projects, housing initiatives, and economic development efforts.
“The Pine Hills Transfer Center represents what happens when we invest in infrastructure that serves people first,” Mayor Demings said at the ceremony. “Safe intersections, bike trail connections, and modern facilities will help us meet the needs of today’s riders and tomorrow’s growth. Investing in successful and affordable transportation for our residents is one of our top priorities.”
The new transfer station allows residents to reach destinations faster, with fewer stops and no need to travel downtown first. It marks the culmination of more than a decade of collaboration among Orange County, LYNX, and the Florida Department of Transportation to improve access and mobility for Pine Hills residents.
The Pine Hills Neighborhood Improvement District envisions a future where the community is recognized as a vibrant destination. The new transfer center is a key step towards that vision.
“This station is part of the larger vision where Pine Hills will be a destination where people will seek us out as a place to live, work, and play,” Johnson said. “We are super excited about this.”
