Orange County Approves 2014-2015 Budget
Orange County, FL – Mayor Teresa Jacobs and the Board of County Commissioners approved the finalized $3.4 billion Orange County budget for fiscal year 2014-2015 in a unanimous vote by all those who were present. The new fiscal year begins October 1, 2014. The budget reflects the continuing economic growth seen in Orange County, which has led to increased property values and an improved employment rate. This is the 25th straight year of no tax increase for citizens. Other budget highlights include:

With nearly 60 million people visiting Orange County in 2013, tourism reached new heights and visitors helped drive sales and tourist tax collections to new record amounts. The budgeted five-year capital improvement project includes funding for building necessary infrastructure and maintaining what is already in place. Some of the new projects include:
- 19 multi-purpose soccer fields and two new neighborhood parks
- Two new spay and neuter clinics
- Pedestrian sidewalk improvements on existing roadways
Public safety, one of Orange County’s top priorities, accounts for 54 percent of the overall tax based operating budget with $484 million covering the Sheriff’s Office, Fire Rescue and Corrections.
