“It is with a very heavy heart that I extend my prayers and condolences to the family of the Orange County deputy killed earlier today. Already our hearts are broken over the loss of OPD Sgt. Debra Clayton. The death of any law enforcement officer in the line of duty is an utter tragedy, and a blow to our entire community. We stand with all of Central Florida and the nation in paying tribute to the service and courage of these dedicated officers.” – Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs

“Our hearts break for the family of the City of Orlando police officer lost this morning in the line of duty. The death of any law enforcement officer is an utter tragedy, and a blow to our entire community. Our constant prayers are also with the Orange County Sheriff’s deputy seriously injured in this morning’s action.” – Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs
