Mayor Jacobs and District 6 Commissioner Siplin Host Pine Hills Trail Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony on Oct. 18

WHAT: Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs and District 6 Commissioner Victoria P. Siplin will host the Pine Hills Trail ribbon-cutting ceremony for phase 1 of the trail. Construction for the trail began in July 2016 and was completed in August 2017.

The trail will be a total of 2.5 miles in length, 1.75 miles from Alhambra Drive to Silver Star Road and a .75 spur from the trail to Barnett Park. In 2009, the Florida Department of Transportation awarded Federal Enhancement dollars for the design of the Pine Hills Trail project. The construction budget of the trail is $5.9 million.

There will be two more phases of the trail. Phase 2 will go north from Silver Star Road to Clarcona-Ocoee Road and phase 3 will run from Clarcona-Ocoee Road north to the Seminole-Wekiva Trail.

Pine Hills Trail is the third most needed trail in Orange County’s Trail Master Plan. With more than 60,000 residents, the trail will be a valued recreational asset to this high-density residential area.
