Orange County to Host Community Repair Event, ‘Don’t Pitch It, Fix It!’

Orange County Environmental Protection Division (EPD) will host a community repair event where volunteer “fixers”  will offer free minor repairs of gently used household items; such as electronics, bicycles, jewelry, eyeglasses, watches, clothing and more.

Sustainability, innovation and collaboration are exemplified in this workshop. This event encourages residents to extend the life of their belongings by having them fixed, thereby consuming less and reducing the amount of trash sent to the landfill.

Last year, Orange County’s ‘Don’t Pitch It, Fix It!’ Program won the Pollution Prevention Award from the Florida Chapter of the North American Hazardous Materials Management Association, as well as the Most Valuable Pollution Prevention Award, Multimedia Category, from the National Pollution Prevention Roundtable.
