Orange County MLK Initiative Announces Pre-Day of Service Event with Second Harvest of Central Florida

Mayor Demings' SealOrange County, Fla. – In recognition of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday and his civic service to our country, Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings and the Orange County Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Initiative in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is hosting a “MLK Pre-Day of Service” Food Supply and Distribution Project.

Mayor Demings and volunteers will be assisting Second Harvest teams by putting together meals for children enrolled in a variety of Head Start programs in the community.

This partnership will provide Orange County residents with much needed food assistance. Many residents are still in need of basic resources such as nutritional food.  The project is being coordinated to support those in need and promote giving back to the community through service, one of Dr. King’s fundamental beliefs.

WHEN: Friday, January 15, 2021

Mayor Demings will participate as a volunteer at Second Harvest’s new production kitchen from 8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.  Mayor Demings will also be available for interviews following the event.
