Regular Curbside Collection During Summer Holidays

Orange County, FL – Orange County Utilities reminds unincorporated customers that garbage, recycling, yard waste, and large items will be collected on Memorial Day and Independence Day for residents who regularly get their waste picked up on Mondays.

Regular collection rules are still in place, and customers are asked to be mindful of how they dispose of items like fireworks, block party leftovers, and yard waste.

• Fireworks are not recyclable and should be soaked in water and cooled before being disposed of in your green-lid garbage cart after use.
• Now is a good time to trim trees and prepare your yard for Hurricane Season. Don’t wait for a storm warning to cut down limbs or clear foliage. Yard waste items should be cut down to size, bundled appropriately, and follow weight restrictions.

Customers often dispose of more waste than usual during these holidays, which can cause collection delays. If collection schedules are delayed due to the amount of waste set out, Orange County Utilities asks customers to leave their carts and materials at the curb. Haulers may collect at irregular times or days to correct the missed pickups.

Thanksgiving and Christmas are the only two holidays that shift Orange County’s curbside collection schedule.

The Orange County Utilities Solid Waste Hotline and email will be closed Monday, May 30, and Monday, July 4, in observation of these holidays. The Solid Waste Division will resume regular business the following day. Customers can find more information online at www.ocfl.net/GreenClean.
