More Pedestrian Safety Improvements Coming to Pine Hills Road

$10.3 Million Dedicated to Phase II of Project

Orange County GovernmentOrange County, Fla. – The second phase of a pedestrian safety improvement project on Pine Hills Road is moving forward. The construction contract with RMS Constructors Group, LLC. for Phase II calls for $10.3 million worth of improvements to make the corridor safer for residents.

The contract is for the milling and resurfacing of the existing pavement, construction of a raised median, and updating the pavement markings along Pine Hills Road from State Road 50 to Figwood Lane. Additional improvements include upgrading pedestrian facilities, curb ramps and driveways to meet ADA standards.

Intersection improvements include upgrading mast arms at Hernandes Drive and signalization with new mast arms at Figwood Lane.

“This project implements safety improvement measures recommended by the Pine Hills Pedestrian Safety Study to ensure Pine Hills Road is safer for pedestrians and bicyclists,” said Hadil Jardaneh, senior engineer with Orange County Public Works Engineering Division.

Staff from Orange County Public Works Highway Construction Division will conduct a pre-construction meeting with the contractor soon, with construction tentatively scheduled to begin in the Summer of 2023. The improvements are expected to take approximately 16 months to complete.
