Orange County Encourages Residents to Give Back Unused or Expired Medication

National Prescription Take Back Day is set for April 27, 2024.

Orange County, FL – The office for a Drug-Free Community encourages Orange County residents to participate in National Prescription Take Back Day, on Saturday, April 27, 2024. An initiative of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DES), this event provides a safe and responsible way for residents to get rid of unused or expired prescription drugs and mitigate the potential risk of medication abuse.

“Each year, Orange County collects more than 3,000 pounds of unwanted drugs at Take Back Day drop-off sites,” Dr. Thomas Hall, Director of Orange County’s Office for a Drug-Free Community, said. “This is a great way to clean out the medicine chest and remove medications safely.”

The Office for a Drug-Free Community is one of 17 agencies encouraging residents to surrender their old and unused prescription medicines at one of these locations across Orange County. Drop-off hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024, and will accept drugs in tablet or liquid form. No needles will be accepted.
