Orange County Repaving a Portion of South Dean Road

Traffic will continue to move in both directions during the project

Orange County, Fla. – Orange County Public Works is preparing for a repaving project along South Dean Road. Beginning Monday, July 22, crews will be working on Dean Road between Curry Ford Road and Lake Underhill Road.

The road will be repaved through a combination of cold in-place base recycling and milling and overlaying asphalt. During cold in-place base recycling, the existing asphalt is ground, mixed with additives, and reused on-site. Milling and overlaying is a common pavement rehabilitation technique where the existing pavement surface is milled to remove damaged or worn asphalt, followed by the application of a new layer of asphalt. The process will enhance the durability of the road while reducing waste and the need for new materials.

Crews will work Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.  Intermittent lane closures will be required; however, traffic will be maintained in both directions throughout the project. Variable message boards are in place to alert drivers of the upcoming project.

Weather and other conditions permitting, the project should be complete by the end of August.
