Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings Convenes Jail Oversight Commission
First meeting scheduled for Friday, January 31, 2025
Orange County, FL – With the significant inmate population increase at the Orange County Jail over the past two years, and the costs associated with incarceration and healthcare, Mayor Jerry L. Demings will convene an Orange County Jail Oversight Commission to look at best practices across the criminal justice system and make recommendations. The Commission will be co-chaired by Ninth Judicial Circuit Court Chief Judge Lisa Munyon and Retired Chief Judge Belvin Perry, Ninth Judicial Circuit Court.
The Orange County Jail Oversight Commission will meet in-person over the next four months. Commission members include criminal justice partners, medical and mental health professionals, law enforcement and community stakeholders. A full list is included below.
