New Mobile Unit Helps Orange County Medical Clinic Improve Health of Community

Residents will see health screenings brought into their communities.

Orange County, FL – The Orange County Medical Clinic (OCMC), a division of the Orange County Government, is set to make access to health care services more accessible to uninsured residents. OCMC announced today the launch of its Community Outreach Awareness Community Health (COACH) mobile medical office.

“The COACH mobile medical office is going to open new doors for us,” said Jessica Rodriguez, Division Manager of OCMC. “It will allow us to reach more members of the community by bringing clinical services to them instead of them having to travel to receive needed care.”

The COACH mobile medical office is part of OCMC’s “Know Your Numbers” initiative, where patients will be screened for blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, HbA1C, BMI, and provide individuals with information about smoking cessation programs. COACH is outfitted with a waiting area, screening room to provide privacy, and air conditioning to make it weather adaptable.

“COACH will be deployed to various locations for three days at a time,” said Brittany Pickren, Manager of OCMC’s Community Outreach Program. “Each day, our staff can open it up for members of the community without worrying about an intense set-up and take down of the site.”

The COACH program aims to inform residents about the services OCMC offers. OCMC is an integral partner with Primary Care Access Network (PCAN). PCAN is a dynamic collaborative among Orange County Government, primary health care centers, community agencies, hospitals and other social services. People who are screened in the trailer will be referred to OCMC, if eligible, to continue maintaining their physical health. If a patient needs more specialized care, OCMC will refer them to a specialty provider through the Specialty Provider Network.

“By increasing the number of patients we reach through the COACH mobile medical office, it will allow us to continue to improve the overall health of our community,” said Rodriguez. “This will be key in providing comprehensive care and ensure better medical outcomes for the members of our community.”
