Orange County Mayor’s Veterans Advisory Council to Pay Tribute to Gold Star Mothers & Families
The Orange County Mayor’s Veterans Advisory Council will host the Annual Gold Star Mothers and Families Day Ceremony. The ceremony will recognize Gold Star families who have lost a loved one during any war or hostilities in which the U.S. Armed Forces were engaged. This year’s ceremony will honor 47 service members with a tribute video. Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings will present each Gold Star family with a proclamation. There will be two keynote speakers, Colonel DeLloyd Voorhees Jr. US. Army (Retired). Colonel DeLloyd is the President of the Central Florida Veterans Memorial Park Foundation and Rico.
The last Sunday in September is designated as Gold Star Mother’s Day. President Franklin D. Roosevelt officially established the day in 1936 as a public expression of love, sorrow, and reverence from the people of the United States to Gold Star Mothers and their families.
