Orange County Government to Open Temporary Warming Centers; Updated Schedule Now Includes Wednesday

Orange County, FL –Due to forecasted temperatures below 40°F, Orange County will open temporary warming centers to support the Homeless Services Network (HSN) in providing short-term overnight shelter for individuals without stable housing. Orange County is adding Wednesday, January 28, 2026 to the warming centers schedule.

The temporary warming centers will be located at the gymnasiums of Barnett Park Recreation Center and Goldenrod Recreation Center on the following dates:

  • Monday, January 26, 2026 | 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.
  • Tuesday, January 27, 2026 | 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, January 28, 2026 | 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.
  • Thursday, January 29, 2026 | 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m.

For residents located in rural East Orange County, Bithlo Community Park will serve as a transportation hub, providing bus service to the Goldenrod Recreation Center. LYNX bus pickups will occur on the following dates:

  • Monday, January 26, 2026 | 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, January 27, 2026 | 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, January 28, 2026 | 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. *NEW*
  • Thursday, January 29, 2026 | 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

LYNX buses will offer free transportation to individuals traveling to a warming center. Secured pets are welcome on LYNX buses and at the warming centers. Pet owners must provide carriers for cats, leashes for dogs, and are responsible for bringing food and supplies.
