A new roadway extending Holden Avenue west from Texas Avenue to John Young Parkway opened on April 28, 2022 with a special ribbon cutting ceremony. Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings along with District 6 Commissioner Victoria Siplin were on hand for the road opening event. The new extension allows residents in nearby neighborhoods to access John Young Parkway and Millenia Boulevard to the west. New improvements include sidewalks and bike lanes along both sides of Holden Avenue from John Young Parkway to Orange Blossom Trail. Orange County Public Works Department awarded the contract for the project in December 2019. It took 28 months to complete at a cost of $22.5 million, which includes utility improvements.
