Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs joined KPMG leaders and local dignitaries to recognize the construction crew and designers responsible for building KPMG’s learning, development, and innovation center in Lake Nona on Aug. 8, 2018. The event celebrates construction milestones and its projected scheduled opening in 2020.

“Orange County is extremely pleased to join KPMG in topping off the building for their new innovation-driven global training center, located in Central Florida,” said Mayor Jacobs. “As KPMG welcomes its executives from across the nation for extended learning and development, Central Florida is provided an excellent opportunity to showcase our world-class community. Additionally, their presence in Central Florida signals the strength of our professional service sector.”

KPMG, which provides audit, tax and advisory services nationwide and internationally, broke ground on their $450 million, 55-acre state-of-the art learning, development and global training center in Orange County on May 22, 2017.

Event attendees were invited to sign a 50-foot stainless steel beam during the ceremony. As part of its commitment to literacy and lifelong learning, KPMG’s Family for Literacy announced it would donate a book for every signature on the beam to a nearby Orange County school in need.

Laura Newinski, KPMG’s Vice Chair of Operations, and David Turner, Chief Financial Officer, thanked the crew for their dedication to the $450 million project, the U.S. firm’s largest-ever capital investment.

“At KPMG, we are passionate about developing and advancing the extraordinary professionals who are the heart of our firm,” said Newinski. “When our center opens its doors, thousands of KPMG professionals will visit every year to grow professionally, to connect with colleagues, celebrate our rich culture and be inspired to deliver their best—building on a legacy for generations to come.”

The new facility will encourage innovation and further enhance the world-class training capabilities KPMG offers to its partners and professionals by focusing on human performance. The learning, development and innovation center will feature 800 single-occupancy guest rooms, multiple learning and innovation spaces, a 1,000-seat assembly hall, a separate social venue and numerous recreational amenities.

DPR Construction was selected as general contractor and Gensler is providing design and architecture. Gensler, is a New York-based design and architecture firm, designed the facility according to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Designed standards established by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The State of Florida, Enterprise Florida, City of Orlando, Orange County, Orlando Economic Partnership, Orlando Utilities Commission, CareerSource Florida, CareerSource Central Florida, Visit Orlando, the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority and the Tavistock Group have all been important partners on this project.
