
Orange County Government Division of Building Safety Hosts Building Safety Month Featuring Education and Events
Orange County Government takes a proactive stance toward building safety with a series of events and educational initiatives to celebrate Building Safety Month. Now in its 44th year, the initiative promoted by the International Code Council raises awareness about safe and resilient construction practices, educates the community about the Florida Building Code, and honors building safety professionals for their invaluable role in protecting the community.
Through seminars, webinars and training sessions, the Division of Building Safety aims to empower builders, contractors and the public with the knowledge and tools to build safe, resilient, and code-compliant buildings and homes.

May 15 & 16 – Free CEU Training: Mid-month brings a continuing education opportunity for builders and contractors to enhance their knowledge base and keep their licensure current. Hosted by JC Code & Construction Consultants, Inc., an ICC Preferred Provider, these free in-person training sessions offer practical insights and updates on building codes. Attendees can earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) by participating in these informative sessions.. The two-day training sessions will highlight updates to the Florida Building Code, 8th edition. Complimentary box lunch provided by Orange County Division of Building Safety.
May 23 – Community Webinar: The Division of Building Safety will host a special webinar open to the community. This interactive session covers expired permits and how to close them, common deficiencies, highlights specific aspects of the Orange Code, and provides a training video for Virtual Inspections. Attendees can ask questions and engage with Building Safety staff and other vertical permitting and inspections experts.
May 30 – Expired Permits and Live Fast Track Training: The month culminates with a two-part session designed to help participants navigate the intricacies of the permitting process. This live training session will take place at the Board of County Commissioners Chambers.
