Best of the Best: Heavy Equipment Operator Proves Skills are Tops in North America
Five months after earning top marks in the state, an Orange County heavy equipment operator took home an award at an international competition.
Orange County Utilities Solid Waste Management team member Joey Delgado placed third in a field of 11 competitors at the International Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Road-E-O recently held in Lake Mary. The annual competition is held at different locations each year.
Also on hand was another member of the county’s Solid Waste Management team, Christopher Logan, who volunteered as a judge for different events.
Unlike traditional rodeos that feature livestock, the SWANA Road-E-O features trucks navigating obstacle courses to showcase the expertise of the operators.
Earlier this year, the state competition was held to determine qualifying for the international competition where the Orange County team did well: Solid Waste professionals earn top standings in annual heavy equipment competition
Way to go, Team Orange County!
