Commissioner Scott Boyd to Cut Ribbon at Johns Lake Conservation Area Grand Opening Ceremony

Orange County, FL – On Friday, August 21, 2015, at 9:30 a.m., the Orange County Environmental Protection Division will host the Grand Opening of the Johns Lake Conservation Area, located at 880 Avalon Road, Winter Garden. The public is invited.

Orange County District 1 Commissioner Scott Boyd and the County Community, Environmental & Development Services Department Deputy Director, Lori Cunniff, will provide opening remarks followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony. Afterwards, attendees will have the opportunity to tour the kayak launch and fishing pier, as well as participate in a guided hike through the property.

Green PLACE (Park Land Acquisition for Conservation and Environmental Protection) is Orange County’s program for the preservation, enhancement and restoration of environmentally sensitive lands. In 2007, through a partnership with the Orange County Public Works Stormwater Management Division, the 138 acre Johns Lake Conservation Area was purchased to meet the water resource protection requirements of the Green PLACE program.
