Orange County Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month 2019

Free Admission to Arts and Cultural Events Highlighting Hispanic-American Culture

Orange County, Fla. – The Hispanic Heritage Committee of Greater Orange County invites the public to take part in the annual celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 – Oct. 15, 2019). This month-long observance of Hispanic traditions and influence in the United States was enacted into law in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan.

In honor of this observance, the Hispanic Heritage Committee of Greater Orange County hosts several cultural events in collaboration with Orange County Government and Orange County Parks and Recreation. This year, festivities kick off on Tuesday, Sept. 10 with a reception featuring musical performances, dances and samples of Hispanic cuisine. This outdoor reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Cypress Grove Estate House, located at 290 Holden Ave. in Orlando. Advanced registration is required. Please RSVP to attend by September 4, 2019 at newsroom.ocfl.net/hhm.

Beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 4 and through the end of October, the Orange County Administration Center will host the unique artwork of local painters and artisans highlighting the influence of Hispanic culture in Central Florida. The pieces will be featured in the Administration Center’s atrium, which is open to the public free of charge Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Additionally, for the fifth consecutive year, the Hispanic Heritage Committee is hosting the Orange County Mayor’s Cup Soccer Tournament. This family-friendly event features youth and adult soccer teams from across Central Florida who compete in various championship categories. The championship games and the presentation of the Mayor’s Cup to the winning teams is set for Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019.
