Orange County Medical Clinic Now Offers Medication-Assisted Therapy Services
Orange County, FL – Medication-Assisted Therapy (MAT) is now available at the Orange County Medical Clinic (OCMC) thanks to a partnership among OCMC, Orange County’s Drug-Free Community Coalition and Specialized Treatment Education and Prevention Services Incorporated (STEPS).
Dr. Thomas Hall, Manager of the Orange County Drug-Free Community Coalition, says this new clinic combines medications with counseling and behavioral therapies to provide a ‘whole-patient’ approach to treating substance use disorders.
“The program has three key objectives,” Dr. Hall said. “Identify who is at the greatest risk from an opioid overdose; increase access to mental health and substance use screening; and provide MAT treatment, intensive case management, and access to peer recovery coaches.”
The MAT Clinic is staffed by a Registered Nurse and a Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician and can provide telehealth services. Cheryl Bello, CEO of STEPS, says the MAT Clinic is just the right step forward.
“We believe that recovery from substance use disorders is possible and can lead to a healthy, productive life,” Bello said. “The MAT Clinic is designed to provide compassionate, evidence-based care to help our citizens reclaim their lives and achieve lasting recovery.”
