Orange County Animal Services to Host Birthday Party for Longtime Shelter Resident, 8-year-old “Yukon”
Orange County, FL – Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) announced today it will celebrate the 9th birthday of Yukon (A390159)’s, a dog whose been at the shelter more than 100 consecutive days. On Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Yukon will be in a special play yard, where he will be showered with treats and affection and will enjoy a birthday cake.
Yukon’s adoption fee is reduced to $10, and OCAS is offering a complimentary starter kit to his new family. The starter kit includes a large crate, bed, raised feeding station with bowls, a collar and leash, dog food, treats and toys.
“We have racked our minds for ideas to help Yukon land a home,” said Diane Summers, Manager for Orange County Animal Services. “This poor senior boy just needs someone willing to take a chance on him, and we want to help that person by offering all of the necessary supplies to kick off a successful adoption.”
Volunteers have described Yukon’s behavior as follows:
- “Yukon is super sweet, very energetic and strong!”
- “Yukon was extremely well behaved for lake walk. He was very easy to handle, despite size he did not pull-on leash. Pays attention to handler.”
The OCAS Behavioral Specialist team can attest that Yukon is a friendly, loving dog but he does not get along with other pets. The team does not recommend Yukon’s next home to have other pets or small children.
“Anytime we have a pet with unique needs like Yukon, it makes it harder to find them the right household,” said Summers. “We know it’s possible, and we’re hoping that person is out there, which is why we’re pulling out all the stops to find them.”
OCAS is located at 2769 Conroy Road, next to the Mall at Millenia. More information on the available pets, services, and programs can be found on the shelter’s website.
