Orange County Hosts Public Workshop on Special Protection Area for Shingle Creek
Orange County, FL — Orange County will host a public workshop to discuss special protections for the Shingle Creek Drainage Basin on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Dr. Phillips Elementary School. The Shingle Creek Drainage Basin spans 84 square miles in South Orange County and serves as the “Headwaters of the Everglades.”
The workshop will feature a presentation on data from a technical study commissioned by the County that evaluated environmental issues within Shingle Creek, such as plant and animal habitat, protected species, water quality, and flooding. Attendees can ask questions, discuss issues with technical staff, and provide feedback on the prioritization of protections.
