Orange County Mayor’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Initiative Announces Juneteenth Celebration
WHAT:
Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings and the Orange County Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Initiative will host the 2025 Juneteenth Celebration, Freedom Forward: Empowerment Through Fitness, Food, and Fun for the Family. The celebration is scheduled for Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Barnett Park, located at 4801 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando, FL 32808 from 6 to 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
This year’s event will focus on health and wellness topics that impact the African American community, including disease prevention, physical fitness, nutrition, and mental health. Attendees can enjoy live entertainment, free giveaways, and connect with community partners sharing resources and services.

Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States, marking the day June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved people in Texas learned they were free. Juneteenth has grown to hold national, symbolic, and even global significance.
