Orange County to Celebrate Grand Opening of LYNX Pine Hills Bus Station

Orange County provided $1.03 million in funding for project.

Orange County, FL–Orange County Government will join the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (LYNX) at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, August 28, at 9:00 a.m. to celebrate the opening of a bus transfer center located at 2756 Belco Drive in the Pine Hills Neighborhood.

Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings will be joined by U.S. Congressman Maxwell Frost, District 2 Commissioner Christine Moore, District 6 Commissioner Michael Scott, and LYNX Chief Executive Officer Tiffany Homler Hawkins. All will speak at the event.

The $18 million transfer center was completed thanks in part to a $1.03 million funding contribution by Orange County. In recent years, the County has invested more than $67 million into the Pine Hills area for projects including transportation improvement, beautification efforts, housing initiatives, and economic development.

County officials have been working in partnership with LYNX and FDOT for more than a decade to bring easier bus service access to Pine Hills residents. Its long awaited arrival underscores the County’s sustained commitment to the community while advancing the mission of the Pine Hills Neighborhood Improvement District to foster economic development and community revitalization.

“This is super important for Pine Hills, its residents, its businesses, and its future,” said Tamara Johnson, Executive Director of Orange County’s Pine Hills Neighborhood Improvement District. “This is making it easier for residents to get around Orange County, while opening the door to future economic development opportunities in the heart of their community.”

Details about the project, maps and schedules are available at: www.golynx.com/pinehills.
