Orange County Animal Services Seeks Loving Homes for More Than 370 Pets in Need

Orange County Animal ServicesData reveals pet outcomes decreased from last year

WHAT:
Orange County Animal Services (OCAS), a division of Orange County Government, today announced it has approximately 255 dogs and 115 cats in shelter care. The team is urging residents from Orange County and throughout Central Florida to consider providing loving forever homes through adoption.

Recent data shows the shelter is not receiving more animals than in previous years, but positive pet outcomes such as adoptions, owner reclaims, and rescue placements have declined this fall season. The current average length of a pet stay is 24 days compared to 16 days approximately one year ago.

This news comes after the Orange County Board of County Commissioners recently voted to award The Collage Companies with a $49 million contract to build a new shelter. The facility will provide more space and comfort for the animals under the umbrella of OCAS’ care.

Media is invited to tour the shelter and meet the animals currently available for adoption.
