Orange County to Honor Local Heroes at Annual Veterans Day Ceremony and Commemorate 50 Years Since the End of the Vietnam War

WHAT:
Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings, County Commissioners, and the Mayor’s Veterans Advisory Council will honor local veterans and active-duty service members at the annual Orange County Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 11 a.m.

The ceremony will feature keynote speaker Captain Richard T. Sloane, U.S. Navy (Ret.), a 27-year veteran who served with the River Patrol Force in Vietnam, commanded the USS Santa Barbara, and was stationed at the Orlando Naval Training Center.

The ceremony will include student performances from Cypress Creek, Evans, and East River High Schools, a Veterans Day Proclamation by Mayor Demings to include the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War, and the presentation of Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pins.

The traditional flag unfurling on the rooftop will conclude the ceremony. In addition, Orange County will light the County Administration Building and Convention Center green from November 4 to 11 for Operation Green Light, a nationwide program that lets veterans know that they are seen, appreciated and supported.
