Orange County to Celebrate Grand Opening of Phase 1A at Horizon West Regional Park on February 16

Orange County, FL – Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings and District 1 County Commissioner Nicole Wilson will host the grand opening of Phase 1A of Horizon West Regional Park on Monday, February 16, 2026.

The 215-acre park site originally opened in December 2010 with limited access for horseback riding and hiking. In February 2024, Orange County Parks and Recreation broke ground on Phase 1A improvements, marking a significant investment in expanded amenities for the growing Horizon West community.

The $15.6 million Phase 1A investment focused primarily on critical infrastructure, including a new access road, utilities, parking, restrooms, a trail, an event pavilion and an inclusive playground designed to serve children of all abilities.

Construction on Phase 1B, with a budget of $7 million, is expected to begin soon. Planned additions include a splash pad, farmer’s market hook-ups, a kayak/canoe launch and supporting infrastructure — amenities identified as priorities through community public surveys.

Horizon West Regional Park is one of 114 parks, trails and facilities spanning nearly 15,000 acres and maintained by Orange County Parks and Recreation.

The event is free and open to the public.
