Art in the Multicultural Center Opening Reception: “Made in Florida” Solo Exhibit by Chris Trovador

WHAT:
Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs presents “Made in Florida,” a solo exhibit by Chris Trovador. An opening reception will be held in the Orange County Multicultural Center Art Gallery at on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, 5:00 p.m. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the program begins at 5:15 p.m. Admission to the reception is free, but advance registration is requested.

According to Trovador, “Made in Florida” reflects origin, process, and place. Shaped by living and working in Florida, these works treat the environment as a material rather than a backdrop. Influenced by Caribbean culture, the paintings and mixed media pieces carry traces of labor, experimentation, and instinct, with process left visible rather than polished away. The work blends humor with idea-driven exploration while also allowing space for quieter, more serious moments. Playfulness and reflection exist side by side, using color, texture, and mark making to invite viewers in and encourage deeper consideration. Made in Florida does not attempt to define Florida as an aesthetic. It claims it as an influence, presenting work that speaks plainly about where it comes from and how environment and culture shape voice.”
