Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings Names Special Assistant to Support Hispanic Community

Orange County, FL – Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings has announced a new staff appointment within his administration. Luana Ortiz has been named Special Assistant to Mayor Demings and will serve as a liaison to Spanish-speaking residents, guests, businesses, and organizations. In her new role, Ortiz will be focused on strengthening connections with the Hispanic community by coordinating engagement activities, expanding public awareness of programs and services, and representing the County at community events.

“I am confident this appointment strengthens our team and enhances our ability to serve all of Orange County’s residents,” said Mayor Demings. “Luana’s experience will be a valuable contribution to County leadership and the Hispanic community.”

Ortiz has nearly a decade of experience in marketing and communications. In her previous role as Marketing and Promotions Manager for TelevisaUnivision Orlando and Tampa Bay, she served as a key liaison among the news station, local businesses, and community leaders. Through this work, she strengthened community connections and built trust with clients across the region.

“I have dedicated my career to amplifying Hispanic voices, fostering partnerships, and advancing initiatives that strengthen our region,” Ortiz said. “As a product of this community, I am passionate about informing our residents and ensuring that opportunities reach those who may need them the most.”

Ortiz also serves as a volunteer ambassador for the Hispanic Chamber of Metro Orlando. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and a certificate in Hispanic and Latino Media from the University of Central Florida.
