Inside One of Florida’s Largest Rooftop Solar Installations: Behind-the-Scenes Access at the Orange County Convention Center

WHAT: The Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) will host its Great Solar Celebration, offering a rare look at one of Florida’s largest rooftop solar installations on the Center’s North-South Building.

WHEN: Friday, April 24, 2026 | 9:30–11 a.m.

Only the speaking portion will be livestreamed via Orange TV and will include select visuals.

Media attending in person will have access to rooftop tours, behind-the-scenes areas and additional visual opportunities not available on the livestream. Following the program, guided tours will be offered exclusively to attendees. OCCC Executive Director Mark Tester will be on-site for media interviews. All guests must wear closed-toe shoes with soft rubber soles. Heels and leather-soled shoes are not permitted.

WHERE: Orange County Convention Center, South Concourse, 9899 International Drive Orlando, FL 32819

WHY: Held during Earth Month, the event marks a major sustainability milestone for one of the nation’s largest convention centers. The new solar installation more than doubles the Center’s on-site renewable energy production while maintaining the same rooftop footprint. The project also builds on a unique community initiative: last year, the OCCC distributed thousands of decommissioned solar panels to more than 100 residents, organizations and businesses, helping divert electronic waste from landfills. As the Center prepares for future expansion, its solar energy leadership continues to serve as a model for convention centers worldwide, combining operational excellence, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.

*Event photography and video from the event will be made available upon request.
