Orange County Spotlights CDBG Program and Nonprofit Partners during National Community Development Week

Orange County, FL — Orange County will celebrate National Community Development Week, April 6 –10, by showcasing its nonprofit partners and the impact of two key federal programs, the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG).

This fiscal year, Orange County has awarded $3.5 million in CDBG funding to 20 nonprofit organizations to support public services, capital improvement projects, homeowner housing rehabilitation efforts, and services for residents experiencing homelessness. Another $604,195 in ESG funding was awarded to seven nonprofit organizations for additional homeless services.

Notable organizations receiving funds include:

Two local nonprofit organizations became first-time recipients of CDBG funding this year. Per Scholas, which helps low-income residents secure high-paying jobs in the IT field, received $50,000 to expand its program in Orlando. Special Hearts Farm, which provides agriculture-based training and employment for adults with disabilities, received $50,000 to add mental health services.
