Orange County Animal Services Seeks Adopters as Shelter Population Tops 350 Pets
Adoption fees reduced to $20 all summer, with a one-day $5 adoption event on July 12
Orange County, FL – More than 350 dogs and cats are waiting for loving homes at Orange County Animal Services, as the shelter enters its busiest time of the year. OCAS today announced an adoption promotion for the summer and an event to encourage people across central Florida to adopt.
“Summer is our most challenging time, with more animals arriving at the shelter and kitten season bringing hundreds of young kittens into our care,” said Diane Summers, manager of Orange County Animal Services. “Every adoption truly makes a difference. When someone opens their home to a shelter pet, they’re not only changing that animal’s life, but they’re also making room for the next pet that needs a safe place to stay.”
Adoption fees on all animals in OCAS’ care have been reduced to $20 through August 31, 2026, significantly reducing the financial burden on new pet owners as part of the “Hot Dogs and Cool Cats” adoption promotion. The reduced adoption fee will include spay or neuter procedure, microchipping, and initial vaccinations.
On Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., OCAS will host the “A Latte of Love Adopt-a-Thon” in partnership with The Pink Seahorse Coffee Cart. Adoption fees will be reduced to $5 for the day and the Pink Seahorse Coffee Cart will be selling specialty lattes and dirty sodas for people who visit the shelter.
“There’s never been a better time to adopt,” Summers said. “Every adoption gives a deserving animal a second chance while helping us continue caring for the many pets that arrive at our shelter every day.
