Spruce Up Pine Hills Week: January 23-27, 2017

Let’s Clean up, Green Up and Spruce up Pine Hills!

Beginning January 23, 2017 the Pine Hills Neighborhood Improvement District (Pine Hills NID) will kick off a yearlong campaign to spruce up the Pine Hills business corridor. As a redevelopment office, the Pine Hills NID recognizes that revitalization of any area must include a comprehensive strategy to address litter. Spruce Up Pine Hills Week, Jan. 23-27, is the launch a variety of short and long-term initiatives to improve the cleanliness of Pine Hills by eradicating litter and graffiti.

“No one person or governmental office will eradicate litter issues in Pine Hills. It will have to be a group effort from business owners, residents and Orange County Government,” said Pine Hills NID Executive Director Michelle Owens.

As we look to “Clean Up, Green Up and Spruce Up Pine Hills” we invite business owners and residents to pitch in any of the 8 Simple suggestions listed below. For more information regarding the Spruce Up Pine Hills initiatives, contact Kea Cherfrere at or 407-836-6267.

8 Simple Steps to a Clean and Safe Neighborhood

Litter bugs live in every community. They trash the environment without a second thought and their selfish actions impact everyone! School children must walk thru trash on the way to school, businesses lose customers due to unsightly surroundings, and residents suffer a loss in home values. Don’t be a litter bug. Be a part of the solution. Help keep your community clean and safe with these 8 simple tips.

  1. Never throw trash from your automobile window
  2. If you see trash around your home, school or business, pick it up
  3. Be sure your trash goes in a trash can and not just near it
  4. Clean up after your community events or sports activities
  5. Pick up after yourself if you eat outdoors or at a fast food restaurant
  6. Make sure your trash is in a secure container on trash collection day
  7. Recycle newspaper, glass, aluminum and plastic
  8. Always schedule a pick up for your bulk trash items in advance by calling 3-1-1.
