Mayor’s Veterans Advisory Council Announces Annual Orange County War Memorial Commemoration Ceremony

Mayor Demings' SealWHAT: Residents are invited to join Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings and his Orange County Veterans Advisory Council at a Memorial Day ceremony honoring the brave U.S. servicemembers who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The keynote speaker is Past Department Commander Jim Ramos, a member of the Haisley Lynch American Legion Post 16 in Gainesville and is the 97th State Commander of Florida. Commander Ramos is a 26-year member of the American Legion and served in the United States Army, from 1974 to 1994. Mr. Ramos is the first Hispanic Commander and became Commander of the Department of Florida on June 27, 2015.

The commemoration will conclude with a wreath laying ceremony.

Mayor Demings and members of the Orange County Mayor’s Veterans Advisory Council will be available for interviews immediately following the ceremony.
