Join the Festivities: Orange County’s 2026 Juneteenth Celebration
WHAT:
Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings, in partnership with the Orange County Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Initiative and the Orange County Regional History Center, invites the community to the 2026 Juneteenth Celebration, It’s a Family Affair: The Grand Finale.
This special event marks Mayor Demings’ final Juneteenth celebration as Mayor of Orange County. The event will highlight seven years of impact through the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Initiative, as well as recognizes the unique history of African Americans in Central Florida with food, fellowship, live entertainment, family activities, and complimentary admission to the History Center.
The free, family-friendly celebration will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Heritage Square, in front of the Orange County Regional History Center, 65 E. Central Blvd., Orlando, FL 32801.
Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States, recognizing June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved people in Texas learned they were free. Over time, the observance has grown to hold national, symbolic, and global significance.
