Orange County Celebrates Third Customer Appreciation and Education Day
The Orange County Division of Building Safety hosted its third Customer Appreciation and Education Day on May 16 in the atrium of the County Administration Center.
The event focused on customer appreciation in celebration of Building Safety Month (BSM). Each year during the month of May, the International Code Council (ICC) sponsors BSM to create community awareness and understanding around the importance of permitting and building safe facilities.
The Customer Appreciation and Education Day is a way to thank contractors, design professionals, permit expeditors and homeowners who visit Orange County for permitting services.
The Division of Building Safety invited industry partners to the event including representatives from Orange County’s Code Enforcement, Environmental Protection, Impact Fees office, the Fire Marshal, 311 Center, Consumer Fraud, Emergency Management, the Property Appraiser and Department of Business and Professional Regulations. Customers were able to visit and gather information on various services and resources, while completing a BSM passport to win one of two gift baskets from Home Depot and Lowes.
A highlight of the event was the introduction of Shane Gerwig, Orange County’s new Building Official. Gerwig is a former Code Official with the Lake County Building Department and is excited about leading the team on building and compliance issues.
“This type of event should take place in every Building Department,” Diana Belcher of One Hour Air said. “We just started using the Fast Track online permitting and I received a hands-on tutorial.”
Solar City’s Christine Smith echoed those sentiments.
“Everyone is always so helpful,” Smith said. “I really enjoy working with the sub-permitting team.”
